Canon 7s (1965)

When the 7s was introduced, Canon had already marketed seven SLR cameras with the Canonflex R-series, FL-mount cameras, and the Pellix which had TTL manual metering. Even though the writing was on the wall for rangefinder cameras, the 7s was introduced as the successor to the Canon 7. It retained the basic performance and features of the 7 except for the CdS meter which replaced the selenium exposure meter.

An accessory shoe, sorely missed on the 7, was also added. The tripod socket was also repositioned. The 7s was Canon's last in a 32-year tradition of luxury-class rangefinder cameras which started with the Hansa Canon.
