I'm a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Kentucky. Long ago, I was a pretty serious photographer with thousands of published photos. Lately, I've been doing research work that involves computational photography methods for reprocessing images, and so I've been collecting lenses to study their properties. I don't have many Canon lenses, but have a few that I inherited or got via eBay, and also have a T70 and an AE1. I'm actually using the lenses with a Sony NEX-5.
I am quite impressed by the 55mm f/1.2 FL lens I have, but this site doesn't list FL lenses. The FDn lenses I have are very consistently good, with none terrible and none excellent. The plastic build feels lousy compared to metal lenses, but still has good tolerances and works well. In short, these are nice, cheap, light lenses that I think balance better on a NEX-3 or NEX-5 than they did on the old Canons. The NEX adapter's open/close ring also makes these lenses behave like presets (another plus). I can't recommend using any of these lenses on DSLRs that require a glass adapter -- the ~1.2X magnification, corresponding light loss, and additional "glow" wide open hurt IQ too much.
